EPISODE 257 - MOON KNIGHT: PART ONE

In 1975 writer Doug Moench and Artist Don Perlin, in need of a villain powerful enough to subdue and capture a werewolf, created a throw away character they called The Moon Knight.

47 years later Moon Knight has become the avatar of an Egyptian Moon God, the Fist of Khonshu, a hero who punishes evil despite battling with dissociative identity disorder, and the star of his own, self-titled, six episode mini series on Disney Plus set smack dab in the middle of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This is the first part in a multi-part series of episodes in which I look at the publishing history of Moon Knight in Marvel Comics to see how the character went from a minor villain in a book about a werewolf, to the complex, multi-faceted, hero we know today.

In today's episode I'm looking at Moon Knight's first appearance in Werewolf By Night 32 and 33 from 1975.

EPISODE 256 - JAF CLASSICS #17

Today on JAF Classics I take you back to December 20, 2006 and Episode #17 of the original run of Just Another Fanboy.

I begin the episode by apologizing for storming off at the end of the JAF Classics Episode #15. Then, of course, Gary and Norman arrive to berate me for a bit for leaving them to finish that last episode.

Then I burst with excitement over the DVD release of Season One of WKRP in Cincinnati before getting into all the regular stuff:

Listener's Feedback . . . in which I play a couple of great voicemails, one of which inspires Norman and Gary to sing.

News and Information You Could Have Easily Gotten For Yourself With Just a Little Effort (Brought to you by Senseless Products Inc)

Comic Book Picks of the Week - In which I say something really quite stupid.

At the Movies With Gary Indiana - In which Gary talks about Transformers the Movie.

Belly Buttons by The Pizza Man (Song)

The View From Norman Oklahoma (In which Norman and Gary sing a medley of Christmas songs)

EPISODE 254 - IMAGE COMICS TURNS 30

In April of 1992, 30 years ago, Image Comics published their first comic: Youngblood #1 by superstar artist and Image founder, Rob Liefeld.

Today I look back at my time buying Image Comics in those first few years, how my research for an episode of another podcast made me realize that Image turned 30 this month, and what I think about Youngblood #1 now.

EPISODE 252 - MADMAN: PART TWELVE

It's that time, once again, to continue my read through Madman, one issue at a time. In this episode I talk about Madman Comics #6 by Mike and Laura Allred.

"Hang on to your hair piece! It's Big Guy a go-go! Mike Allred introduces the latest addition to the Legend line-up in this thunderous two-part story pitting Frank Miller and Geof Darrow's Big Guy against Snap City's super-sensation, Madman! Madman's mad-scientist buddy, Dr. Boiffard, is suffering from an ever-expanding brain that's soaking up information like a roll of quilted Bounty. The American government figures Boiffard's got one valuable load of headcheese so it sends its golden retriever, The Big Guy, to reel in the big fish! Can Madman stop the ten-foot tall, twelve-hundred-pound armory from kidnapping his old buddy?! What doesn't kill him makes him sore for weeks!"

Published by Dark Horse on March 14, 1995.

EPISODE 251 - JAF CLASSICS #14

Today on JAF Classics I take you back to November 29, 2006 and Episode #14 of the original run of Just Another Fanboy.

There ain't no dilly-dallying in this episode, folks. I ain't messing around. I start this show with the intro, then blaze right along to all the normal gobbledy goop:

Listener's Feedback (with one, incredibly odd voicemail)

News and Information You Could Have Easily Gotten For Yourself With Just a Little Effort (Brought to you by: Pickle-In-A-Sack!)

Comic Book Picks of the Week

At the Movies With Gary Indiana

This Week on Heroes

The Podcast Spotlight (Comic Timing)

The View From Norman Oklahoma (In which Norman complains about comic book covers and comic slabbing)

Plus: Bloopers! (Which Norman also complains about)

Also, stick around all the way to the end for a little brand new bonus bit that I put together for the very, very end in which I'm still trying to work through my thoughts on putting out an unedited episode for Episode 250.

EPISODE 250 - ONE BIG MESS!

Here it is, folks. Episode 250 in all it's naked glory!

Which just means that I live streamed this episode on YouTube as I was recording it and I decided to leave everything in. The long pauses, the mistakes, pretty much all of it.

In fact, I called the show the Just Another Podcast and while I normally would have gone back and recorded that part over, I didn't do that for this one.

Buckle up, folks because this show is all over the place as I talk about podcasting, I answer listener questions, lose my train of thought, veer off on tangents, and even talk about Our Flag Means Death.

Good luck with this one.
